About

A decision straight from the top of the Michigan High School Sports Association, Traverse City United Lacrosse was forced to split into respective West Senior High and Central Senior High teams due to their overflowing roster of talent. For years, TC United was a well-oiled machine as a product of a merger between these schools, back when demand for the sport wasn’t high enough to sustain teams of their own. Thanks to the direction of visionary head coach Liberty Provost, two rival high schools put their differences aside and created a star-producing machine in Northern Michigan.

The split was melancholy. For one, players from two schools that may as well be placed on opposite sides of the planet formed bonds impossible without this merged system. Yet splitting was the goal from the very beginning. The booming demand for lacrosse in Traverse City was sparked by this cooperative effort, and the sacrifice of a beloved team opens up the door to hundreds of high schoolers looking to experience a sport only growing in popularity.
